S.E.E.4VETS works closely with the colleges on effective use of funds. Our organization carefully analyzes the effectiveness of its initiatives, its funding, and provides oversight and consultation. Together, S.E.E.4VETS and colleges, establish metrics to measure student veteran academic standing success going forward.
GateWay Community College (GWCC), Phoenix, AZ…and S.E.E.4VETS came together to launched the first-ever program to encourage and reinforce Science, Technology, Engineering Math STEM) education as path of success for veteran students. GWCC will receive $10,700 in the first year of the 3-year program.

University of New Mexico –Taos, Taos, NM… operates the federally fund Veteran Upward Bound (VUB) project for the entire state of New Mexico. They were awarded $3000 to create a math-tutoring program at the Central New Mexico College – Veterans Resource Center for academic year 2019-2020. They also received $4,800 to establish VUB Scholarship program. Eight (8) student veterans would receive $600 scholarships, paid in full the first semester of enrollment in the college or university of their choice.

Montana State University, Northern, Billings, MT… operates a state-wide Veterans Upward Bound project. They were awarded $800/veteran or six veterans, or $4800 in the form of scholarships in academic year 2019-2020. The “bridge funding” serves as a head start for them to enroll at a community college of their choice. In addition, the VUB project will use the additional $2500 award for the Math Tutoring Program at their Technical College.

Glendale Community College, Glendale, AZ…received funding for their Math 108, which is a structured tutor class, taken concurrent with a math class. Student veteran are ineligible for GI Bill benefit because it is not part of their degree program. They were issued $6000 for fall semester 2019 with a target of awarding 18 scholarships. Overall, the college has received $27,500 and 90 veterans were awarded scholarships.

Yavapai Community College, Prescott , AZ… operates the federally fund Veteran Upward Bound (VUB) project in the state of Arizona. They received continued funding for their VUB project scholarships. S.E.E.4VETS funded the 2019 fall semester with $4,275 with the target of awarding 10 scholarships. Since 2017, YCC has awarded 37 scholarships, and plans to award 11 in fall semester 2019. Total disbursements stand at $20,400.


Truckee Meadows Community College, Reno, NV… operates the federally fund Veteran Upward Bound (VUB) project in the state of Nevada. They received continued funding for their VUB project scholarships. S.E.E.4VETS funded the 2019 fall semester with $5000 with the target of awarding 10 scholarships. In the spring semester 2019, 11 veterans received scholarships.


Arizona Western College, Yuma, AZ…received a $4000 check for the Military Legacy Endowed Fund, which was established to provide financial support to student veterans at the College. In addition, S.E.E.4VETS has been part of a student veteran’s success by contributing to the Gold Heart and Military Legacy Scholarship programs. To date, S.E.E.4VETS has contributed $32,000, including the Endowed Fund since 2015.


Coconino Community College, Flagstaff, AZ received a $4,000 check for the Incidental Expense Relief program. This program and the tutoring program have been recipients of $14,000 since 2017. In addition, another check was issued for $5000 to contribute to the S.E.E.4VETS Veterans Endowment Fund, which will raise the fund total to $20,000. In all, S.E.E.4VETS has disbursed more than $44,000 to support student veterans at Coconino Community College since 2016.


Redlands Community College, El Reno, OK… operates the federally fund Veteran Upward Bound (VUB) project in the state of Oklahoma. They received funding for their VUB project scholarships. S.E.E.4VETS funded the 2019 fall semester with $4877 with the target of awarding 6 scholarships.


Glendale Community College, Glendale, AZ…in addition to the college offering math tutoring program to student veterans, they partnered with S.E.E.4VETS and The Vanguard Group, one of the largest providers of mutual funds, to offer a pre-employment program – Vets-Helping-Vets on April 2019. The focus is on building student veteran rapport and to discuss the challenges and stigmas veterans face transitioning out of the military to civilian employment. The objective then is to ingrain confidence in them presenting themselves to prospective employers. The dynamics of the program, which are resume construction and interviewing pointers, would satisfy the objective.



Mohave Community College (MCC), Kingman, AZ… presented a $12,814 check to MCC to help fund new Veterans Centers on three campuses – Bullhead City, Kingman and Lake Havasu City. The MCC Kingman Veterans Center was created fall 2018. It was so successful that the Lake Havasu City campus and Bullhead City campus Veterans Centers were added spring 2019 with full support from S.E.E.4VETS. All of the colleges Veterans Centers are located in the campus libraries, where students have easy access to many resources including the MCC Student Success Centers and tutors.
